Magical? Pfft, maybe if you're just using it as decoration.

Ok. Here's a situation: Sunday Morning church pre-prep on A/V tech. Machine displaying worship lyrics is setup and ready to go. Pastor delivers his slides that include feature screenshots of a new section of the church website. Unfortunately, apparently due to differences in screen output betwen Pastor's workstation and the projector, the screenshots are tinny in details and illegible on the silver screen. Its 0910 and go live is at 1000.

There's 40-50 minutes to:
  • Connect to WiFi
  • For each website screenshot to replicate
    • Pull up the page in a full screened web browser
    • Capture the screenshot
    • Copy the screenshot to the presenter software
Piece of cake, right? Depends, actually.

The $298 Laptop Special

Black Friday, or any given week on FatWallet/SlickDeals/Spoofee/DealNews/... there's bound to be a $300 laptop deal to be had. When we say laptop in this post, we mean the bargain basement mainsteam, typically 15.6 size notebooks (not netbooks) equipped with with basic HDD storage, CPU, and RAM.

The valuation of this kind of $300 unit depends on the prospective user and budget. (Quad-Core and SSD's aren't required for trolling and stalking people on the BookSpaces)

On the other hand, doesn't the old adage of getting what you pay for apply here as well? Let's analyze...

There's all these shows on tv about doctors, lawyers, police, reality tv survivorship. How come there aren't any tv shows about engineering? Here's some of my ideas, with lots of opportunities for advertising, product placement, and sponsoring.

How's my driving? Call God.

A quick entry. This morning on the way to work, another motorist was tailgating me on the last stretch of my normal route, even though I was driving the speed limit through this residential path. Stopped at the light to go straight, said motorist pulled aside to make a right turn. Apparently rushed motorist gauged traffic, started accelerating, then stopped abruptly for possibly misreading traffic. Then it hit me. Said vehicle had a sticker advertising the upcoming Easter event at a major locale, lead by the leader of one of the mega churches of the area.

See. While I don't approve of aggresive driving, I understand people get rushed and what not. It happens. But when a driver contradicts their God bumper stickers and Jesus Fish placards by putting others at risk on the road, it kinda makes me think: hmm...would Jesus approve of this behavior?

Today's tip. I feel that if you display articles proclaiming your faith, creed, religion, et. al. for other motorists to see on the public roads, you might as well put this on:
